Braces can make brushing and flossing your teeth normally a struggle. In fact, people with braces naturally have more bacteria on their teeth simply because it is harder to remove the bacteria and plaque as it accumulates. Fortunately, we have a solution for this problem. Our office uses Opal Seal, a sealant-primer made by Ultradent that works to protect your teeth throughout your orthodontic treatment.
Opal Seal is applied to your teeth right before your braces are placed and forms a barrier between your tooth enamel and the plaque and bacteria in your mouth, completely covering the surface of your teeth to provide optimal protection. Opal Seal also released a low dose of fluoride over the course of your treatment, which works to strengthen your teeth and help prevent cavities. Opal Seal can be applied quickly and comfortably, and is virtually invisible once it is placed. The sealant itself lasts for months, and can be reapplied during your treatment if needed. Opal Seal is available for both children and adults.
